Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., was formed in 1957 and established a headquarters in Hollywood, California. The first popular Toyota in America was the Corona, which arrives in 1965. It was designed specifically for American drivers with things like automatic transmission and a powerful engine. By 1967, Toyota was the third best-selling import brand in the US. In 1989, Toyota launched a luxury line of vehicles including the Lexus LS 400 and ES 250. These were extremely successful cars that became highly acclaimed.
